Tartini Festival 2012 – an international classical music festival

This year we are celebrating the 320th anniversary of Giuseppe Tartini’s birth. After a great success at the 10th edition of the festival, we will again host the Ensemble 1756  from Salzburg. The talented young Spanish violinist Roberto Gonzalez  will perform as the soloist at the opening concert, playing renowned Vivaldi concerts: The Four Seasons and works by Tartini . As an added particular for this year’s opening concert, the, he will perform on an original violin played by Tartini.

On August 24th we will have the opportunity of listening to the Minetti Quartett  from Vienna, one of the most promising young European quartets. They were chosen for the renowned concert series Rising Stars and performed at the Köln Philharmonic, the Palais des Beaux Arts in Brussels, the Festspielhaus in Baden-Baden, the Salzburg Mozarteum, the Beethovenhaus in Bonn, the Birmingham Symphony Hall, the Konserthuset in Stockholm and the Musikverein in Vienna.

This year, we are also celebrating the 150th anniversary of Claude Debussy’s birth, and for this occasion we have invited a famous interpreter of his compositions, Hugues Leclère , who will perform the twenty-four Debussy Préludes.

As is tradition at the festival, the festival Ensemble  will be again be performing, this year with works by Tartini, Salieri and Biber.

Finally we will have the chance of listening to an ensemble from Sicily,  which will be performing for the first time in Slovenia. In addition to works by Tartini, Boccherini and Bottesini they will also be performing adaptations of pieces by famous romanticist composer Vincenzo Bellini, born in Sicily and author of one of the most beautiful operas of all time, Norma.
