After finishing elementary music school in Gornja Radgona, guitarist Danaja Habjanič enrolled at the Conservatory for Music and Ballet in Maribor, where she graduated with honours in 2014.
She continued her study of the guitar at the Ljubljana Academy of Music, with professor Katja Porovne Silič, where she is currently in her second year of post-graduate studies. She first encountered historic plucked string instruments (renaissance and baroque lute, theorbo) at the Academy in the department for historic music under the mentorship of professor Izidor Erazem Grafenauer.
She perfected her skills in masterclasses with acclaimed guitarists, such as Carlo Marchione, Alvaro Pierri, Andrej Grafenauer, Lorenzo Micheli, Paolo Pegoraro, Istvan Römer, Thomas Müller-Pering and others.
Her artistic activity extends into various musical domains. She performs as a soloist and as a member of various chamber ensembles, like the guitar duet with Hana Fridau and a trio of violin, guitar and accordion. She has also participated in the reproduction of historic music on the baroque lute and theorbo, and as a member of the baroque ensemble and orchestra of the Ljubljana Academy of Music. One of the bigger projects she participated in was the staging of Monteverdi's opera The Coronation of Poppea in 2016 with the Slovene National Theater Maribor.
